The Karakuri Group originally began life as the fan club of the craftsman Akio Kamei. Mr. Kamei has to be the number one designer of trick Japanese boxes in the world. The group has now brought together many of the top Japanese craftsmen. Although individual craftsmen may make traditional Japanese puzzle boxes, the Group itself concentrates on the design and making of an ever-more unique range of trick boxes as opposed to puzzle boxes.
